Psychotherapy for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)

How is post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD and specific phobia treated? People with PTSD often have lasting and frightening thoughts and memories of the event and tend to be emotionally numb. Since PTSD can affect people for a long period of time, the goal of treatment is to help reduce the emotional and physical symptoms to improve daily functioning. Treatment will also provide coping techniques. Psychotherapy can also be a form of treatment for PTSD.

In other words, with help and treatment, people with this type of anxiety disorder can cope with such disorder. Furthermore, for specific phobia such like the one of flying, it can be treated by cognitive behavioral therapy where people with such phobia are slowly exposed to what frightens them until their fear begins to fade. Medication can also help specific phobias as well as, practicing relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing.
