Types and Symptoms of Anxiety or Fear

There are many types of anxiety disorders like: specific phobia, panic disorders, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), acute stress disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These are just some of the many anxiety disorders.

Anxiety disorders all have unrealistic, irrational fears or anxieties of disabling intensity as their principal and most obvious manifestation.

Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension. These tensions can be due to worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure. An example of anxiety disorder is when someone with anxiety encounters a traumatic episode in life where it caused fear and other symptoms.

Like, 9/11 when America experienced a very traumatic event that caused major damage and killed many. Because of this event, many experienced major anxiety after flying on airplane shortly this event. Also, every anniversary of 9/11, people continue to feel anxiety such like symptoms like, fear and panic.

This anxiety disorder can be categorized as having post-traumatic stress disorder and due to the example above, people can develop specific phobias like afraid of flying and being on an airplane.

Anxiety disorders can impair people from living their every-day lives. Luckily, we have several ways that such anxiety disorders can be treated with the help of a professional so that one can attempt to face our fears and anxieties that may cause impairment.
