Many researchers believe depression is a result of two causes in combination. Many believe there is a chemical imbalance in the brain, which can trigger depression, and which may be a hereditary factor. When it is combined with a stressful or traumatic event in one’s life, it can result in depression. The exact cause of depression, chemically or through circumstances, is not really known.
There are some factors which are associated with depression and may be causes of depression in some cases. Some of those factors are:
- A medical condition, such as an underactive thyroid
- An illness or chronic pain
- Divorce or breakup of a relationship
- The death of someone close to you
- Loss of income or job
- Childhood abuse or neglect
- Loneliness
There are many effective ways to deal with depression, including talk therapy.

Plan a surprise night out with your significant other or a group of friends, this gives you something to not only divert your attention from being down, but also something to look forward to.This is why it is important to have someone that you trust to talk to. Many people turn to a therapist, and while this is affective, it may not always be feasible.
